Gross vs. Budget Comparison
This table compares the domestic grosses of the summer's top 20 films with their budgets. Grosses are projected final tallies. Budgets only include estimated production costs and not marketing expenditures and were compiled through reports in Entertainment Weekly, Variety, and other industry publications. Ratio of gross-to-budget DOES NOT necessarily indicate profitability since costs for prints and advertising vary greatly between films, overseas grosses are not included, and some films were jointly financed by two studios that will share in worldwide revenue.
